To date the Alberta Recreation Corridors Coordinating Committee under the direction of Ray Danyluk and Denis Ducharme has continued to block and rebuff every effort that has been made to garner a seat at the table of this committee.

Mr Ducharme keeps telling us that he is a supporter of our activity, however, his actions indicate that he wants no contact of any nature with us. He has refused to meet with us and has blocked our requests to participate in this committee. Mr Ducharme has also stated that the 4x4 community is well represented at this table. Again , when we questioned Mr. Ducharme as to who specifically we should contact regarding the concerns of the 4x4 community, we were rebuffed.

According to the government website: ( http://www.cd.gov.ab.ca/building_communities/sport_recreation/rec_corridor/pdf/Rec_Corridor_Report.pdf (opens in a new window) ) there are no less than three snowmobile clubs providing input to this committee. We find it interesting that we have been given unsubstantiated reports that Mr. Ducharme is also and active snowmobiler.

Here are copies of the correspondence with Mr. Ducharme.

Mr. Ducharme’s continued blockage of our efforts to be heard does not speak well for democratic process. The message he is delivering is that this government will launch public consultation, but only if they WANT to hear from you. If you are on the outside you will stay there. I truly hope that this is not the case, however, we are receiving absolutely nothing that would indicate otherwise from Mr. Ducharme.
