These Guiding Principles have been set out to demonstrate responsible and sustainable use of public areas, and in recognition of the Integrated Land Management Measures so that we can maintain our access to these areas. All members and member clubs must follow these guidelines. Clubs will be held accountable to maintaining these principles and to holding their members accountable to them.

| 1. |
Respect the rights of all forest users equally to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors:
|

| a. |
Respect grazing leases; stay on the trail in pastures, return all gates the way they were before entering, No spin zones in pastures
|
| b. |
Do not disturb/feed wildlife/livestock and avoid posted areas
|
| c. |
Respect other forest users - give right of way to pedestrians, pull over and shut off engines when encountering horseback riders
|
| d. |
Respect cultural resources (cabins, native sites, observed traplines, campgrounds...) found in the forest
|
| e. |
Volunteer assistance in the case of an emergency
|
|
|
| |
| 2. |
Environmental impact must be minimized
|
| |
| a. |
Only 4wheel in areas open for 4wheeling, or with specific permission from the government or land owner(s)
|
| b. |
No littering. Leave the trail cleaner than you found it
|
| c. |
No damaging living trees, shrubs, or other natural features
|
| d. |
Cross creeks in a way that avoids any damage to the riparian areas
|
| e. |
When above the treeline, avoid spinning & stay on the trail
|
| f. |
Stay on the trail when possible in other areas
|
| g. |
Avoid making ruts on hills or in wetlands
|
| h. |
All vehicles must be equipped with fire protection
|
| i. |
Do not pollute streams or lakes
|
| j. |
Use chemical spill kits in the event of a spill
|
| k. |
Do not embark on the trail with a known vehicle leak
|
|
|
| |
| 2. |
Be a Responsible Wheeler
|
| |
| a. |
Know and obey all federal, provincial and local rules regulating the operation of motorized vehicles in the areas where vehicles are used
|
| b. |
Make sure four wheel drive is in good operating condition
|
| c. |
Disabled vehicles must be removed from the trail as soon as possible
|
| d. |
Do NOT drink alcohol/take drugs while driving on trails, including passengers and drivers (passengers are included in this because they're your back-up driver if something happens to you!)
|
| e. |
Recognize that people judge all four wheel drive owners by our actions
|
| f. |
Use influence with other wheelers to promote good conduct
|
|
